Product Effectiveness

Plasma Air’s bipolar ionization technology offers a broader, more extensive solution than other products in the market. Plasma Air is a proactive solution treating the air in the occupied space. This treatment occurs at the source of contamination which maximizes effectiveness. Traditional end-of-pipe solutions utilize a “pass-through” or “filtered” approach. These technologies are considered reactive because they only treat the air that passes through or by their products.

A higher MERV rated filter, and especially a HEPA filter, adds significant pressure drop to the HVAC system resulting in larger horsepower motors and increased fan energy for the life of the system. Our ionization system adds negligible pressure drop regardless of the application or installation location.

UV products have a limited claim structure of only keeping the heating and cooling coil clean. Bacteria kill rates are negligible as they relate to the typical UV installation and there is certainly no effectiveness on bacteria in the occupied space. Carbon based systems have broad effectiveness on many chemicals and VOCs, but have several application issues such as high first cost, additional space requirements in the air handling units and prohibitive media replacement costs.

Fully Tested

The Plasma Air technology has been fully tested by independent laboratories to prove product efficacy claims and to insure compliance with safety regulations. We have impressive test results for particle reduction, TVOC removal, bacteria kill rates, smoke particles reduction and ozone production. We even have a validation study proving the accuracy of our ASHRAE IAQ Procedure calculations. Additionally, all Plasma Air products are either UL or ETL listed according to the appropriate UL standard. If the product you are considering is not, you need to reconsider.

Energy Savings

Utilizing Plasma Air’s outside air reduction approach saves energy on both new construction and retrofit applications. None of the competing technologies – UV, powered particulate filters, PCO, HEPA filtration, etc – are capable of saving building owners energy.


Plasma Air maintains a significant inventory of its products in both its east coast (Stamford, CT) and west coast (Scottsdale, AZ) warehouses. Most small to medium orders are in stock and can be fulfilled in a matter of days, not weeks. Custom solutions are engineered, manufactured and delivered expeditiously.


Plasma Air supports an extensive maintenance service program for our ionization systems. The program includes quarterly site visits or more if necessary, cleaning of the ionization tubes depending on the application, annual tube replacement, and measurement/calibration of the ionization systems to insure optimal performance all year long. Each site visit includes an extensive service report that customers have found highly valuable. Service programs are currently being provided to airports, casinos, schools, and waste water treatment facilities.
